(4) In the letter No. 1083/98 lost from the Colonial Office, dated the 18th February last, I was warned that if I returned to Hong Kong my pension would be withheld, I trust that in view of the circumstances of my case and my special services to the Government and to the Colony (ample proof of which I possess) The Right Honourable the Secretary of State would be pleased to cancel that order and give me the privilege of returning to Hong Kong and securing a better situation.
(5) In my letter to the Colonial Office dated the 9th of December last I mentioned that I was entirely innocent of the charge brought against me and I would respectfully add in continuation of that letter that the records of Police Court in Hong Kong would show that for the past five years I had more cases than any other Gambling Europese Police Officers during that period, and on one occasion, the 25th of September 1895, I prosecuted the master of a gambling establishment with the result that one of the highest fines on record for gambling was imposed (viz) $5000 in default 6 months imprisonment.
(6) In my last letter of the 9th inst., I mentioned that I possessed Gold Medal for meritorious service rendered in that Colony and I also possess the silver medal for receiving the Diamond Jubilee, having the bronze medal in commemoration of H.M. Diamond Jubilee, with the other...
